What is a QR Code?

QR Code was invented in 1994 by the Japanese automotive company Denso Wave

QR stands for Quick Response to allow immediate access to the information hidden in the code and is a two-dimensional bar code consisting of black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background.

QR code is read by an imaging device like a camera to read the information stored as a series of pixels. QR Code stores more than 7000 characters and can be read much faster than other bar codes. The amount of information you encode in the QR Code makes them complex.

What are the applications of QR codes?

The ease of generating and reading QR codes has led to their massive adoption in Product Packaging, Contactless commerce, Order processing, Checkouts, and Payments services at Retail outlets, Banks, Hospitals, Travel, and Food service industries.
