Does fear teach you great lessons?

Is fear good or bad? Can fear lead to failure or can it lead to success?

I am writing my experience here on how I was fearful and what I discovered during my journey.

We have all faced fear sometime in life, sometimes we succumb to fear and at times we overcome our fears. Fear is a powerful thing, our success or failure depends on how we handle our fears.

As a child my parents told me that everything had two sides — good and bad and it is up to us how we use it. Fire, electricity or nuclear energy are some common examples they used to explain me. Nuclear power can be used for generating electricity or used for destruction. It is upon us how we harness the power.

It may sound silly but I the fact is I feared driving. The lie that I told myself was that I did not want to drive as because of accidents. I never want to hurt anyone or myself. I procrastinated for years to even give a written test. When I passed the written test, I procrastinated to learn driving. When I learnt driving basics, I would not practice. In short I made excuses not to learn driving.

After several years when I learnt to drive with help from my hubby, I was not ready for the road test.

Let me mention a few of my failures here I failed my written test and road test twice. There was only one reason for my many failures and that was fear of driving.

Even after I got my driving license I was not driving due to fear.

I am blessed with great family and friends who kept encouraging me to face my fears and kept pushing me to the point where I had no choice but to face my fears.

My daughter read it somewhere and told me

This experience made me realize to keep challenging my fears. When we challenge our fears we will eventually be successful in any sphere of life.

By taking action even when we fear would bring great success and happiness.

Sitting on the fence and being fearful will never help. When we take action on our fears our fears steadily lose their grip on us and we gain strength.

I have now started to drive and the fear is still there. Everytime I sit behind the steering wheel, I tell myself that I am powerful than than my fear.

While facing our fears we may fail at times. In those moments… remember Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Sam Walton, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates. Do you think they never failed or they feared anything?

They had the courage to face their fears. Take action and this lead to their extraordinary success.

You and me are no different from these legends except for one difference. We give in to our fears and avoid taking action and they faced their fears by taking action day in and day out.

Don’t be indecisive, take decision. It is the indecision that holds us back. Fear is only inside our head and so is the courage to face our fears.

Clap if you I helped you think !
